How can you come all the way to Hawaii and not go deep-sea fishing? When you think of Hawaii, don’t you think of fresh fish. How about catching some fish of your own? Well, it is called fishing and not catching but we are sending out the positive vibes that you do leave with some fresh fish. At minimum, you’ll have an amazing day on the water. The views from the water looking back at Maui and the outer islands are simply breathtaking.
Let’s jump right in and talk about the Fishing Charters on Maui. We are discussing the Fishing Charters on Maui based on their customer reviews, feedback from others, the Hawaii Activities website and from our experiences. We will note that we have not been to every one of these shows. We plan on showcasing hundreds of great things to do on Maui. We wish we could say that we have done them all. Perhaps one day. Please do your due diligence.
Coming in first on the list of Fishing Charters on Maui is Start Me Up Sportfishing. These are shared charter boats that depart out of Lahaina Harbor. You catch it and you get to keep it. They will even fillet your catch for you. For free too. All the game fish that they catch are caught by trolling. One of the benefits of fishing this way is avoiding spending your fishing time untangling lines. Once you leave the Lahaina Harbor, they’ll take you around the islands of Lanai, Molokai, Kahoolawe or Molokini. They have excursions that range from 2 hours to 9-hour trips. And one of the pluses to boarding Start Me Up Sportfishing is that there is a minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 passengers. Guests must bring their own food, beverages and water. Your bait, tackle and equipment will all be supplied.
The views are amazing too.
Aloha Blue Charters offers private or shared fishing excursions. We have had the pleasure of going out with these guys. We had a blast. They were super fun and very knowledgeable. Plus, we caught fish on this trip – which always makes it much more enjoyable.
They depart out of Maalaea Harbor and have a selection of boats. They offer sport fishing as well as bottom fishing trips. The offer private trips with a 34-person maximum or 4-hour bottom fishing trips with a maximum of 10 anglers. We will put links to both options. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.
Lahaina Light Tackle Fishing Tour is next up.
Check-in at Mala Wharf Boat Ramp. They offer shared and private fishing charters. You get to keep what you catch too. For those who may want to take a break from fishing, they have snorkel equipment available for you. The shared tours range from 4- 5-hour trips. The private fishing charter options range from 3-, 4- or 5-hour excursions. These fishing trips are operated in calm waters closer to shore, making this our top recommended charter for serious fishermen and families with young children. Water is supplied. You will, however, need to bring your own food and beverages.
Hokua Bottom & Sport Fishing Cruise leaves from Maalaea Harbor. One of the cool things about this fishing charter, is that they offer a combination sport fishing and bottom fishing. They troll for tuna and mahi-mahi. You get to keep your catch as well. The 4.5-hour excursion does include soft-drinks and juice. The tour is BYOB so you are more than welcome to bring your alcoholic beverages if you choose.
The boat can handle up to 10 passengers.
There are so many options when it comes to going fishing on Maui. These are just a few of them.
